When the Dallas Cowboys decided to move on from Micah Parsons by trading them to their conference rival in Green Bay, NFL analysts and fans alike were shocked. Why would Dallas move on from a seemingly generational player with a proven stat sheet for ‘chances’ of drafting a great player in Parsons’ place?
Though it may have not been understood at the time, Dallas was making a move based on their own experience with Parsons and the many distractions he brings with him, on and off the field.
Parsons, throughout his time in Dallas, displayed an immaturity that Dallas deemed too insurmountable to offer him a major contract, cementing him as a cornerstone of their organization. Instead of bringing in Parsons for the long haul, Dallas dealt the star pass rusher.
Now that Parsons finds himself in Green Bay, we have to ask the question… Is he a distraction? More importantly, is he a divisive force in the locker room?
Expectations Don’t Meet Reality For Parsons In Green Bay
Though they had aspirations of making a Super Bowl with Parsons in tow last season, Green Bay struggled into the playoffs, losing to their rival Chicago Bears in heartbreaking fashion in the Wild Card round.
Parsons played most of the season, eventually suffering an ACL tear in Week 15 and being sidelined until next season.
The point is that Parsons and Green Bay failed to make a serious dent in the 2025 NFL playoffs, despite having one of the most talented rosters in football.
Looking back at the Dallas Cowboys during Parsons’ era, it’s easy to recognize a pattern of disappointing playoff loses. They seem to follow Parsons like a dark cloud.
Will his time in Green Bay be short lived? Time will tell. For now, Green Bay has the chance to compete for a championship.
