CBS Cancels ‘So Help Me Todd’, Sparking Uproar Among Fans

‘So Help Me Todd,‘ a show that was beloved by many CBS viewers over its two season run, has officially been cancelled CBS. The network has decided to move on from the show after making the call to shake up their primetime lineup.

The show followed a talented P.I. that agrees to work as the in-house investigator for his mother, who is reeling from the recent dissolution of her marriage.

The announcement came alongside the news that NCIS: Hawai’i and CSI: Vegas would also be cancelled.

While NCIS: Hawai’i was cancelled for its extraordinary budget (due to its on-location filming in Hawaii), it is being reported that So Help Me Todd was simply a casualty of the reshuffling of their primetime lineup.

The show had become immensely popular. Known for its comedic writing, which fans say is among the best in television. Despite being well-written, So Help Me Todd struggled in the ratings during its second season, though we will point out, if Seinfeld was only given two seasons, it never would have amounted to anything.

CBS President George Cheeks said about the reshuffle,

“Budgets are challenged, so we don’t have an unlimited amount of slots on Paramount+. It’s something that we’re always open to, but it’s never a guarantee.”

Some have speculated that the show may even be picked up by another network after CBS announced that it was cancelling the program starring Skylar Astin and Marcia Gay Harden.

CSI: Vegas, which was also cancelled by CBS in this announcement, was also a casualty of the reshuffle.

In the place of these programs, CBS is once again deciding to reboot ‘Matlock,’ as well as a new comedy which will star Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr..

‘So Help Me Todd’ boasts a 7.5/10 rating on IMBD. Could another network scoop up the show in hopes of grabbing ratings from CBS?

CBS had the best Thursday line ups in decades. Then they cancel SHMT.
I understand the Sheldon final season but why cancel Todd also?
    Not a great move.

Please someone else pick up this very clever and very funny show that portrays how some people try to defend others from the bad guys. What a great family show that CBS totally missed the mark with by canceling.
