FBI Raids Home of Top Aide To New York City Mayor Adams

Federal agents raided the home of Winne Greco, an aide to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, also known as Zheng Qirong, on Thursday morning. The reason for the raid has not yet been released.

Winnie, who has been an ally of Adams for over a decade and served as a Director of Asian Affairs and a special advisor to the mayor, has now been placed on unpaid leave from her position following the raid.

While the purpose of the raid was not immediately clear, Greco recently found herself in trouble with New York officials after she attempted to solicit donations for a non-profit she was running to provide access to a government event. Winnie was also caught up in attempting to have an Adams staff member pay for her kitchen renovation in exchange for securing them a government job.

Winnie is not the first member of Adams’ inner circle to face an FBI investigation after a probe into Adams’ 2021 campaign led to several members, including Brianna Suggs, campaign fundraiser, and internal affairs aide Rana Abbasova, being investigated after an alleged connection between the Turkish Government and Adams’ campaign. No information has been released regarding the connection between these investigations.

The FBI has confirmed that they conducted a law enforcement operation at Greco’s residence in Pelham Bay but has not released any further details.

A spokesman from New York City Hall made a statement following the raid on the Director of Asian Affairs.

“Our administration will always follow the law, and we always expect all our employees to adhere to the strictest ethical guidelines. As we have repeatedly said, we don’t comment on matters that are under review, but will fully cooperate with any review underway,” a City Hall spokesperson said in a statement. “The mayor has not been accused of any wrongdoing.”
