Former Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleader Tragically Died During Childbirth
Krystal Anderson, who was a cheerleader for the Kansas City Chiefs, tragically died on March 20th, 2024 while giving birth to her daughter.
After giving birth to her daughter, Anderson reportedly spiked a fever, then suffered total organ failure shortly after due to sepsis and passed away. Her husband, Clayton Anderson, told Fox 4 Kansas City this in a heartbreaking interview.
Anderson’s daughter was reportedly born “at rest” just 21 weeks into her pregnancy. Her death was announced by the Kansas City Chiefs cheer team last week.
That post read,
“We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of CC alum Krystal. Krissy cheered with us for over 100 games from 2006-2011 and 2013-2016. During that time, she attended the Pro Bowl as the Chiefs representative in 2015, served as a captain of her team, cheered during the London game, and visited our troops around the world, including in Iraq, Kuwait, and throughout the United States. She was loved and adored by her teammates, fans, and strangers who were never strangers for long. After her time as a cheerleader, she continued to share her love of dance and Chiefs Cheer by serving in an alumni role on gameday, practices, and at events. We will miss her kind spirit, joyful energy, and her sparkle. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones. We will cherish every moment we had with her. At a later date, we will share how we will continue to honor her legacy”
Anderson was a cheerleader for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2006 to 2011, and once again from 2013 to 2016. She participated in over 100 games for the Kansas City Chiefs cheer team during her career.
In addition to being an extremely talented cheerleader, Anderson also pushed for Black women in STEM and women’s health. The Chiefs community is certainly mourning the loss of this wonderful human being today.
Krystal Anderson is survived by her husband, Clayton, her two parents and brother. Her obituary states that she was “preceded in death by her infant son, James Charles, and infant daughter, Charlotte Willow.”
Rest in peace to a lovely individual, Krystal Anderson.
