Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs was arrested in Maricopa County, Arizona late on Tuesday night on charges of assault and offenses against public order. Officials have confirmed Suggs’ arrest.
The charges stem back to an incident, about which little is known, that occurred on March 10th, 2024.
Suggs played in the NFL from 2003 to 2019. He was Defensive Player of the Year Once and made the NFL All-Pro team just once. He won the Super Bowl in 2012 with the Baltimore Ravens against the San Francisco 49ers and Colin Kaepernick.
Suggs played college football at Arizona State University. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He also spent time on the Kansas City Chiefs and on the Arizona Cardinals.
Suggs was part of a Ravens pass rush that included Paul Kruger, Chris Canty, Haloti Ngata, and others. Suggs had 139 sacks, seven interceptions, and 895 total tackles throughout his 16 year NFL career.
The former NFL star has reportedly been released from jail following his arrest for assault. No additional information about the arrest of the Super Bowl champion Suggs has been made available at this time.
Dov Kleiman, an NFL reporter, has claimed that the March 10th incident that is currently unknown involved Suggs threatening to kill a person at a local Starbucks. Suggs apparently called the other individual involved in the altercation, who was white, a “cracker,” while threatening his life.
The former linebacker played alongside legendary Ravens hall of famer Ray Lewis, who also had is fair share of problems with the law during his own NFL career. Despite his struggles in early life, Lewis has emerged from that time in his life to become an inspiration and leader in his community.
Suggs is undoubtedly one of the most popular players to ever wear the Ravens uniform, and is beloved in Baltimore. His arrest will surely come as a shock to many around the NFL world. Though he was known for his toughness, this is simply over-the-top.
