Eric Dane, best known for his roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, has reportedly tragically died at the age of 53 following his ALS diagnosis less than a year ago. His death has rocked Hollywood.
Dane was married to Rebecca Gayheart, and together they had several children, children who will now grow up without their beloved father.
The actor was born in San Francisco in 1972 and made his television debut in 1993.
Dane’s family released the following statement on his death, writing,
With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world. Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time
The iconic actor also had roles as Jason Dean in fantasy drama series Charmed, as well as Captain Tom Chandler in the show The Last Ship. Additionally appearing in the films Marley and Me, as well as Valentine’s Day and Burlesque.
Dane’s accomplishments will live on forever as part of the big screen. The fact that he leaves behind a family only further breaks the hearts of those who loved him.
