Heroic FDNY firefighter

An astoundingly heroic firefighter could be seen saving three individuals from a building engulfed in flames in New York City today. The fire, which began in Harlem, was so powerful that residents were reduced to climbing out of a window.

Luckily, this heroic firefighter was there to save the day. See video of that heroic encounter from a phone camera on the scene in the clip below…

One person was killed in this fire, and another 18 were injured. Unfortunately, this heroic firefighter was unable to save every single person in the building, however, without his efforts, many more would have died.

The person who died was a 27-year-old man. Five more victims were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

FDNY Chief of Operations John Hodgens said about the department’s handling of the situation,

Our members attach themselves to a rope and then another member goes on to the rope and goes off the side of the building, goes down to the window and grabs the person that is trapped by the fire. This happened three times at this fire. Three firefighters performed this evolution. We usually have one of these a year or two. This was three at one fire, a very heroic action.

Whether it be their heroic actions on 9/11, or the fight they put up every single day to assist the citizens of New York, the FDNY is full of heroic individuals who constantly risk their lives for the safety and protection of others.

This young firefighter deserves recognition, and he deserves to be known for his heroic action. After the rescue, Firefighter Jason Lopez told reporters that his team practices this drill at least once a week.
