Renowned artist, Chester “Tune” Chevalier, who was best known as a worldwide touring guitarist, who played in bands like Fernest & The Thunders, Inner City Rhythm and Blues Band, and The Creole Zydeco Farmers, passed away this week at the age of 81. No cause of death has been released.
Chevalier reportedly passed away peacefully at his home in Arnaudville, Louisiana surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Throughout his career, Chevalier cut twenty-seven albums, as well as playing shows around the world with various groups. Among the shows he performed was the New Orleans Jazz Heritage Festival, which he performed seventeen times.
Some of the albums that he and his bandmates released throughout his time with The Creole Zydeco Farmers are titled, “Zydeco Y2K,”(2000), “On The Road,” (1999), “Les Zydecos Song Pas Sale,” (1998), “Come To Party,” (1996), and “Live In Louisiana,” (1994).
A few of the albums released with other bands, such as Fernest & The Thunders are titled, “Zydeco Thunder,” (1985), “Zydeco Stomp,” (1995), “Gumbo Special,” (1987), and “Live+Well,” (1992).
While Chester played with several bands throughout his career, his most recent band wass The Inner City Rhythm and Blues Band.
While performing the music that he loved, Chester helped to take Creole music and culture all across America and the globe, including Europe, Africa, and Asia.
