Two Nigerian men have pleaded guilty to one charge after reportedly threatening to release a nude photograph of a 17-year-old Michigan boy, which led to the teen committing suicide in his Michigan home.

The two men are facing federal charges in the death of 17-year-old Jordan DeMay after they tricked the minor into sending explicit photos of himself to someone online who was posing as a girl.

After DeMay sent the explicit photos, the two men immediately started demanding money from the teenager while threatening to send the photos to everyone in DeMay’s life. Jordan initially sent the men the money they asked for;however, the men then continued to pressure him for more. Just hours after this, Jordan committed suicide at his home in Michigan.

Federal officials tracked the two men responsible for the tragedy to Nigeria, where they were arrested and extradited to Michigan. They will face charges there.

Jordan DeMay’s mother, Jennifer Buta, released a statement following the extradition of the men responsible for her son’s death.

“I always had this confident feeling that they would find who did this to Jordan,”

United States Attorney Mark Totten released a statement on the rarity of extradition or even charges in this type of case.

“Make no mistake: Charges of this type brought against subjects outside of the United States are rare,” “Securing extradition of these subjects is even more rare.”

The two men, Samuel and Samson Ogoshi, both pleaded guilty to the sexual exploitation of children. As part of the plea deal, the other charges against the men were dropped. Initially, both men were facing sexploitation of children, conspiracy to distribute child pornography, and conspiracy to commit stalking through the internet.

Both men remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals.
