Video: At Least 40 Dead In Moscow Concert Hall Attack
At least 40 people have been killed in a mass shooting that took place in Moscow, Russia today. The massacre took place at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow. 40 people have been killed, with the death toll expected to rise.
A minimum of 100 people had additionally been injured. The Russian State labeled this shooting as a terrorist attack. Video has spread online of the individuals who conducted the shooting.
They can be seen wearing face coverings and camouflage, and appear to be carrying rifles. Many have speculated that they may be islamic attackers due to a recent plot thwarted by Russian authorities.
On March 7th, the Russian State announced that it had thwarted an Islamic terror attack on a local synagogue. That attack was reportedly being planned by an ISIS cell based in Kaluga.
Russia’s ally China has not released a statement on this matter. Neither has the Biden White House.
There were also explosive devices allegedly used in the attack on the Crocus City Hall in Moscow this morning, as eyewitness are claiming that the perpetrators tossed grenades into the crowd, along with firing automatic weapons.
The Hall has also reportedly been engulfed in flames. CNN reports,
A large plume of black smoke was seen billowing from the burning building, which appeared engulfed in flames, according to video footage from the scene.
Regional governor Andrey Vorobyov said everything was being done to save people. A SWAT team was called to the area and more than 70 ambulance teams and doctors were assisting victims.
Around 100 people were evacuated from the building by firefighters, TASS reported. Rescuers are still working to get people off the roof, according to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the attack a “terrible tragedy.”
“Today a terrible tragedy occurred in the Crocus City center. My condolences to the loved ones of the victims. I gave orders to provide all necessary assistance to everyone who suffered during the incident,” Sobyanin said in a statement.
