With the 2026 NFL offseason underway, rumors have begun swirling around some of the league’s biggest stars, such as franchise staples like Maxx Crosby.
As usual, the Dallas Cowboys have been linked with some of the biggest names available this offseason, despite their tendency to take the “cheap” option in free agency.
Following monumental shifts within the organization so far this offseason, might the Cowboys finally be taking a different approach?
In just a few simple cap moves, the Cowboys can quickly free up a substantial amount of space on the salary cap, allowing them to make a “splash” in free agency. While they will likely look to retain players first, Dallas may still have enough space to bring in an elite playmaker to lead their new-look defense.
While Dallas would likely jump at the opportunity to add such a talent, the Raiders seem to be unwilling to dish Crosby without adding significant capital. Reports have indicated that Vegas would be looking for a deal similar to what was given up for Micah Parsons this offseason.
After trading away a first-round selection this year to acquire defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, pairing him with a dominant edge like Maxx Crosby would be a force to be reckoned with, but can the Cowboys afford a piece like Crosby?
Last season, the Cowboys offense struggled to make up for the team’s defensive struggles and almost certainly will be looking to add game-changing pieces. The question remains, will they be willing to part with the capital necessary for such a large move?
