As Republicans draw closer to the 2026 midterm elections, one thing is becoming clear. The fight to maintain their control over the House of Representatives is going to be a difficult one. Democrats are making plans to take back both the Senate and the House from Republican control.
One of the avenues Democrats are using to take advantage of the narrow Republican lead in the House, which currently stands in the single digits, is targeting districts on the bubble. Republicans currently lead just 217-212 in the House.
Of the many districts being targeted by the left, one stands out. Florida’s seventh congressional district, currently represented by embattled Republican Cory Mills.
Florida, which has shown to be a reliably Republican state for several election cycles now, particularly under the leadership of President Donald Trump, represents a tall task for Democrats. There’s just one problem for Republicans.
Cory Mills.
Mills has been the subject of several scandals in recent months, some involving lies he told publicly about his military service, and some including women that have accused him of merciless sexual harassment and emotional abuse.
Mills represents a weak link for Republicans in an otherwise reliably red state, leaving the Democrats a window into cracking the ‘red wall’ built so carefully by the Trump team since their first election victory in the state back in 2016.
Here are just some of the scandals currently plaguing the Republican incumbent.
Mills’ Second Wedding Was Officiated By Radical Islamist Linked To 1993 World Trade Center Bombing
Cory Mills was married twice from 2000 to 2014, both to women from the Middle East. Mills’ first marriage, to Imelda in the early 2000s, appears to have concluded without significant public controversy.
Greater scrutiny arises from his second marriage to Rana al-Saadi, an Iraqi-born, naturalized U.S. citizen who worked as a translator within Republican political circles. Their 2014 marriage ceremony, conducted in Falls Church, Virginia, was officiated by an imam identified as Mohammed Al-Hanouti.

Al-Hanouti has been referenced in historical legal materials as an unindicted co-conspirator in matters connected to the 1993 World Trade Center investigation. The mosque associated with the ceremony has also been subject to public scrutiny regarding alleged extremist affiliations, though such claims remain contested and require careful sourcing and contextual handling.
Mills Fakes Roadside Bombing Injuries During Dyncorp Stint In 2006
Following his stint in the military, Mills moved onto private defense contracting as many former service men do. In 2005 Mills signed on to work for DynCorp as a security specialist, where he would be employed until 2009. While working for Dyncorp, Mills ran into the same problem as during his deployment in Afghanistan.
Mills has claimed publicly that he was blown up by ‘several roadside bombs’ during a private gig in Iraq in 2006. You can see a video of the Florida Congressman recounting the claims during a C-SPAN interview in 2023 here.
There’s just one problem. Contractors who worked alongside Mills have disputed the accuracy of his claims, a recurring theme throughout Mills’ military career.
Scott Kempkens, who worked for Dyncorp in Iraq with Mills in 2006, told the Daytona Beach News Journal that Mills was not in the car that exploded due to a roadside bomb during the attack Mills has recounted publicly. Kempkens knows because he himself was actually injured in the bombing.
Kempkens recalled the bombing in 2025, saying to the Washington Babylon:
“The injured sergeant was with a reserve unit from Kansas that was stationed near the embassy and was working with the contractors to protect diplomats. He was pissed because it was the second time he’d taken shrapnel in the ass. There were two motorcades, three vehicles in each, I was in a military vehicle, a Hummer, it was the only vehicle that was hit. Cory was assigned as a team medic and was in a Suburban that was already around the corner when our vehicle was hit.
A big chunk of my shoulder was taken off, I had burns on my neck and shrapnel in my left leg. Me and the sergeant hopped into Corey‘s vehicle after our vehicle got around the corner. We were treated at an aid station near the Interior Ministry; the sergeant’s blood got on Cory’s leg there or on the way there after we got into the Suburban.”
Kempkens continued:
“If Mills had nearly died in the attack, he would have been awarded a Purple Heart if he’d still been in the Army, but since he wasn’t he could have won a Defense of Freedom Medal as a civilian working for a contractor. I have a certificate that shows I won the Defense of Freedom Medal; Cory doesn’t because he wasn’t wounded that day or any time during his time in Iraq with DynCorp.
I know that because I was in Baghdad when he arrived there in 2006 and I was working for the company in northern Iraq when he left in 2009. Cory’s a lying sack of shit…If he was wounded at any time when he was in Iraq, it happened when he cut himself shaving.”
Despite clearly lying about being bombed in Iraq in 2006, Mills has used this incident to promote himself and his campaigns throughout his political career. Observe a tweet of him bragging about his fake experience below, and remember the words of Scott Kempkens while you read it.

Chase Nash, who was also present on the day of the bombing Mills falsely claimed victimhood for, corroborated that Mills was never injured in the roadside bombing.
Mills Fakes A Medic Rescue, And Maybe Forges A Signature, To Steal A Bronze Star
While serving in Iraq in 2003, Republican Representative Cory Mills claimed that he saved three individuals from a bombing. This is the incident that was the supposed justification for him receiving a Bronze star. The names of the individuals Mills claims to have saved are Alan Babin, Joe Heit and Joseph Ferrand.
Joe Heit has outright claimed that he never even saw Cory Mills while serving in Iraq. Heit said about Mills, “He didn’t save my life. I don’t recall him being there either.”
How could somebody that Mills claims to have ‘saved’ from death not even remember him being in the country he was fighting in?
Unfortunately, Mills’ stolen valor goes even further. Alan Babin, who was also a medic, was seriously injured while tending to Joe Heit after he was also wounded by a gunshot. He earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with “V” device for valor.
Babin has stated he has no recollection of Mills being involved in the incident or providing aid. He does not recall Mills being there at the scene where he was wounded. His account of Mills being essentially non-existent in Iraq align with Heit’s exactly.
Mills’ official form for the Bronze star states that he “threw himself at the enemy insurgent and subdued him, saving the life of SFC Ferrand.”
Jospeh Ferrand has vehemently denied this lie, saying to the Washington Babylon, “The act never took place. The event never happened.”
Ferrand denies, along with Joe Heit and Alan Babin, that Cory Mills performed a single heroic action while serving in Iraq. A deep dive into Mills’ history reveals that this was not the last time that he would distort events that took place in the Middle East for political gain, even fabricating events from front to back.
In addition to many questions surrounding his military service, and even his military contracting in the Middle East, Mills also has a history of troubling accusations against him by women.
Who Is Lindsey Langston?
Lindsey Langston is a former girlfriend of Cory Mills who lived at his home, and moved out after allegations surfaced that Mills had assaulted another woman called Sarah Raviani. Langston, who believed herself to be in an exclusive relationship with Mills, departed his home and ended their relationship following this public revelation.
Evidently, her departure didn’t sit well with Cory Mills. Mills, according to court documents, became obsessed with Langston, threatening her both physically and emotionally.
A further review of the restraining order filed against Mills shows that Langston asserted that the Republican Congressman threatened her with physical violence and attempted to blackmail her by threatening to release nude images and photos that he had taken of her throughout their relationship. See Langston’s statement on that below:

Langston went as far as to describe herself as being in ‘imminent danger’ from Mills, who allegedly threatened to harm anybody that she may have a romantic relationship with in the future. See evidence of the imminent danger Mills posed to Langston in the document below:

Communications submitted within the restraining order reveal that Mills threatened any future romantic partners of Langston by telling them to ‘strap up cowboy,’ while also threatening to send them nude videos without her consent to the men.
Mills went as far as to say “it’s coming every time.” He then doubled down on his threats to release nude videos of Langston against her will, saying “thanks again for the videos.”

Langston was successful in obtaining her restraining order against Mills, meaning that a Judge ruled that Mills’ behavior warranted legal recourse to prevent him from contacting his ex-girlfriend.
The Sarah Raviani Investigation
In addition to being caught lying about the restraining order that was officially filed against him in 2025, Mills has also been accused of assaulting another ex-girlfriend, Sarah Raviani. It was the public revelation of Raviani’s allegations that prompted Langston to depart from Mills’ residence.
Raviani is the co-founder of Iranians for Trump.
Mills was accused of physically assaulting Sarah Raviani, and body camera observations reportedly noted visible bruising on the alleged victim. During the altercation, Mills told the officer to call Pam Bondi and Ed Martin.

As of February 2025, Mills was still being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department for allegedly assaulting Raviani.
The 2026 Midterms And Why Cory Mills’ Seat Matters
If you think back to President Donald Trump’s incredibly successful first term in office, one aspect of his success stands out above the rest. Trump was still able to navigate implementing his agenda, strengthening border security, achieving economic results for the average American worker, and delivering on his promise to Make America Great Again despite attempts by the Washington establishment to stop him.
Those attempts were strengthened greatly by the 2018 midterm elections, in which Democrats advanced to capture both chambers of Congress. The body, which before the 2018 midterms was exclusively controlled by Republicans, turned overnight into a roadblock with Nancy Pelosi at the helm.
Senate Majority Leader Schumer and House Speaker Pelosi spent the next two years hurting the American people in any way they could imagine, attempting to halt President Donald Trump’s attempts to protect Americans from violent crime, criminal illegal aliens, and to implement an economic policy designed to further America’s interests, and not the interests of foreign lobbyists and special interest groups.
Now fast-forward to 2026, and President Donald Trump faces a similar situation. After securing wins in the Senate and House in 2024, current forecasts show Republicans in a heated battle to maintain control of both chambers following the 2026 midterm elections.
Every seat, particularly in the House, will count. That is why Republicans must be extra vigilant in this cycle to put forth candidates that have the best chance of winning, particularly in states that aren’t reliably red. This brings us to the largest liability the Republican Party faces in the State of Florida, the Seventh District.
The Seventh District is currently represented by Cory Mills, a controversial Republican that has recently been embroiled in major scandal. Mills has recently been accused of sexual assault, and has even allegedly gone as far as to lie directly to the face of President Donald Trump in order to secure his endorsement.
The Real Question At Hand
Republicans have made sizeable gains in the State of Florida under President Donald Trump. For the first time, Florida has become reliably Republican.
The only crack in the armor placed on the shoulders of the people of Florida by President Trump is Cory Mills, who, because of his countless scandals, represents Florida Republicans’ weakest link by far.
Are Republicans willing to forgo gains in one of the most crucial swing states, and potentially destroy their chances of maintaining control of the House in 2026… all for Cory Mills?
The same Cory Mills who lied directly to the face of President Trump in order to receive an endorsement under false pretenses?
The Republican Party has a Cory Mills problem. Time will tell if they allow it to sully their chances of maintaining control of a crucial body of government at a time such as this.
