EXCLUSIVE: Paul Singer Funding Republican Exodus In U.S. Senate

While speaking to a CNN correspondent yesterday, Alaskan Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski stated that she simply “can’t get behind Donald Trump,” as the Republican nominee for President in 2024.

During the short exchange, Murkowski, who had endorsed Nikki Haley for President, also insinuated that she may be considering leaving the Republican Party. When asked whether or not Trump’s victory in the Republican Presidential primaries made her rethink her affiliation with the GOP, Murkowski responded by saying,

“Oh, I think I’m very independent minded. I just regret that our party is seemingly becoming a party of Donald Trump.”

When asked if she was considering changing her Party affiliation to independent, Murkoswki added,

“I am navigating my way through some very interesting political times. Let’s just leave it at that.”

Throughout the entirety of her interview with CNN, Murkowski refused to say whether or not she plans to remain a member of the Republican Party. In a Senate that is tightly contested, with Democrats controlling a slim 51-49 majority, Murkowski’s decision to leave the Republican Party may have a colossal effect on the power structure of the U.S. Senate heading into a crucial Presidential election.

Yesterday, Slingshot News posted a bombshell exclusive report detailing an effort funded by anti-Trump billionaire hedge fund manager Paul Singer to entice former members of Congress to retire before the end of their term, handing control of the House back to Hakeem Jeffries and the Democratic Party. We also reported that Kevin McCarthy may be helping to orchestrate the plot to cede control of the House of Representatives back to the Democratic Party.

Due to the Supreme Court decision on former President Trump’s ballot access in the State of Colorado, which ruled that Congress, not the States, has the power to remove a federal candidate from a ballot, a potential unilateral Democrat Congress could in fact bar Trump from the nationwide Presidential ballot in 2024.

As to a possible court objection on this subject, the Supreme Court has already affirmed that Congress has the power to remove a candidate for federal office from the ballot.

House Democrat Representative Jamie Raskin has already introduced legislation to ban former President Donald Trump from the 2024 Presidential ballot. If the Democratic Party were to take control of the House, the bill would almost certainly advance to the Senate.

That’s where Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski re-enters the picture. Just like Republican Representatives in the House who have opted to not seek re-election, or resign from their position before the expiration of their term, Murkowski has also received donations from Paul Singer.

Slingshot News can exclusively confirm that Senator Lisa Murkowski has received donations from billionaire Never-Trump mega-donor Paul Singer. Murkowski has been taking donations from the billionaire since 2004.

In 2022, when Murkowski was being challenged by Trump-endorsed Kelly Tshibaka in the general election, the Alaskan Senator was helped tremendously by donations from the Mitch McConnell-led Senate Leadership Fund.

Alaska uses a rank choice voting system, hence the reason why Tshibaka’s challenge to the sitting Senator came during a general election. The rank choice voting system in Alaska, which is unique to the State, is truly the lone reason that Murkowski resides in the U.S. Senate to this day.

The rank choice system was only adapted by Alaska in 2020. The system includes a Primary in which the top candidates, regardless of Party, advance to the general election. Candidates are eliminated until one candidate receives over 50% of the vote. Murkowski eventually narrowly defeated Tshibaka on November 8th, receiving 136,330 to her challenger’s 117,534.

In the first round of that contest, Tshibaka was just 2,015 votes.

Murkoswki received a reported $5.8 Million in advertising from the Senate Leadership Fund in 2022, assisting her in defeating Trump-endorsed candidate Kelly Tshibaka.

That boost was crucial to Murkowski’s 2022 victory, and Slingshot News has uncovered that it may have come at the hands of billionaire anti-Trump hedge fund manager Paul Singer. Singer donated an astounding $7.5 Million to the Senate Leadership Fund during the 2022 Election cycle alone.

As we reported in our initial story on Paul Singer, the GOP megadonor gave $5,000,000 to the SFA Fund PAC this cycle, a PAC that was created to support Nikki Haley’s campaign against Trump.

Murkowski endorsed Nikki Haley in her Republican Primary along with Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins. Slingshot News has also uncovered that Susan Collins has also received contributions from Paul Singer.

Both Republican Senators who endorsed Nikki Haley’s failed bid for President have received contributions. As the 2024 Election approaches, and every Republican vote becomes crucial to the prospect of Republicans regaining control of the White House, Murkowski and Collins are now turning their back on the Republican Party, and more importantly, Republican voters.

It appears that Paul Singer is funding a Republican exodus. Not just in the House of Representatives, but in the Senate as well.
