When Anne was only 15 years old, she was cast in her first major role to play Susan Waverly in the musical “White Christmas.”
Anne began her acting career by appearing in several radio commercials when she was seven years old. She appeared on radio programs such as “Our Miss Brooks,” “One Man’s Family,” and “The Baby Snooks Show.”
Later on in her career, in the 1950s, Whitfield appeared in films such as “Juvenile Jungle,” “Tick, Tick, Tick,” and “Senior Prom,” but was mostly featured in television shows such as “Father Knows Best,” “Rawhide,” “Adam 12,” “Emergency,”“The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis,” “Hawaiian Eye,” “Perry Mason,” and “That Girl.” In the late 1960s, Anne also appeared in a several-episode arc of “The Days of Our Lives.”
After moving out of Los Angeles in 1970, Whitfield retired from acting. However, she continued to accept occasional roles while dedicating most of her time to promoting peace and preserving the environment.
“Annie’s greatest loves other than her family and friends were being in nature and traveling the world. She had a goal of taking each one of her grandchildren individually to a different country to show them that the world is a place of love, acceptance and connection,”
