Dallas Cowboys Hall Of Fame Guard Larry Allen Dies At 52

Larry Allen, who was a member of the Dallas Cowboys 1995 Super Bowl winning team, and played for the Cowboys for over a decade, has reportedly died at the age of 52. His death comes as a shock to the Dallas Cowboys organization, as well as fans around the world.

Allen, who was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2013, is widely regarded as one of the best offensive linemen to ever play. He was a favorite of iconic NFL broadcaster John Madden, who often pointed out Allen’s size, speed, and strength while covering the Cowboys.

Allen reportedly died while vacationing with his family in Mexico. The Dallas Cowboys released the following statement on their legendary hall of fame guard’s sudden and tragic death,

“Larry, known for his great athleticism and incredible strength, was one of the most respected, accomplished offensive linemen to ever play in the NFL. His versatility and dependability were also signature parts of his career. He was deeply loved and cared for by his wife, Janelle — whom he referred to as his heart and soul — his daughters Jayla and Lariana and son, Larry III. The Jones family and the Cowboys extend their deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to the Allen family and grieve along with the many other friends and Cowboys teammates that also loved Larry.”

Along with being a legendary player, Allen was also a beloved members of the Dallas Cowboys organization, assisting young players in finding their way in Dallas.

His loss not only marks a tremendous loss for his family, but for football as well. He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft, the first draft class after Dallas and legendary head coach Jimmy Johnson parted ways.

Allen was a pivotal piece of the 1995 Dallas Cowboys team that defeated Neil O’Donnell and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl that season.
