‘Embarrassing’: Mitt Romney Slams Speaker Johnson For Traveling To New York City Trump Trial
Yesterday in front of a New York City courthouse, former President Donald Trump did not stand alone. The former President was joined by several political allies, including sitting members of the House of Representatives and Senate.
Trump was joined by House Speaker Mike Johnson. Johnson, while speaking to the press, claimed that he is ‘disgusted’ by the hush money trial currently ongoing under the officiating of Judge Juan Merchan.
Utah Senator Mitt Romney slammed Johnson for appearing outside of the New York City courthouse on behalf of Trump, slamming the move as ’embarrassing.’ Romney said,
“Really very difficult to watch. There is a level of dignity and decorum that you expect from people who are running for the highest station in the land, and going out and prostrating themselves in front of the public to try and apparently curry favor with the person whose our nominee, it’s a little embarrassing.”

Also joining Trump was former North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, who told members of the press that the American people have ‘already acquitted’ Donald Trump.
Vivek Ramaswamy, who once was Trump’s opponent in the 2024 Republican Presidential primary, proclaimed during his speech that there is no underlying crime in the hush money case. This fact was first proclaimed by defense attorney David Schoen, who is a regular cable news guest, as well as having successfully represented Trump during his first impeachment trial.
Representative Byron Donalds also spoke to members of the press, calling the hush money trial a ‘travesty of justice.’
One Republican member of the U.S. Senate was none too happy about about the visit by Speaker Mike Johnson to New York City, claiming that the move was ‘a little embarrassing.’
“I think it’s a little demeaning to show up in front of a courthouse particularly one where we’re talking about an allegation of paying a p*** star.”

Romney had decided not to seek re-election in the 2024 Election, after receiving President Trump’s endorsement in the 2018 U.S. Senate race.
