Former President Donald Trump survived a reported assassination attempt today in Butler, Pennsylvania. Shots were fired from a long range weapon at the former President, who showed a small amount of blood coming from his ear.
Trump collapsed on the stage, being swarmed by members of his Secret Service detail just seconds after the first shots rang out. A rally attendee was also reportedly killed.
Trump was then ushered to his vehicle by his Secret Service, who transported the former President away from the rally. It has been reported that the Secret Service shot and killed the individual who fired the shots, whose identity still remains a mystery.
President Joe Biden issued a video and written statement following the botched assassination attempt. Biden called for an end to political violence. See that statement from his X account below,

The statement released by the Biden White House was preceded by a statement issued by former President Barack Obama, which stated, “There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery.”
The former President issued his statement on the botched assassination attempt on Truth Social, stating, “I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so l realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
It is being reported that the former President will attend the UFC event in Denver, Colorado tonight after this incident, though that is merely speculation at this point.
