Actress, singer, and dancer Janis Paige, best known for her role as Babe in “The Pajama Game” on Broadway, passed away of natural causes at her home in Los Angeles this week at the age of 101.

The news of Janis’ passing was confirmed by her longtime friend, Stuart Lampert.

Paige’s rise to stardom began in 1951 after being featured in the comedy-mystery play “Remains to Be Seen” and touring as a successful cabaret singer.

Along with her time on Broadway, Paige also played several movie roles, including the 1948 film “Romance on the High Seas,” which marked Doris Day’s movie debut. Following her role in the 1951 film “Two Gals and a Guy,” Paige decided to leave Hollywood.

After six years away from Hollywood, Paige returned and worked in films such as “Please Don’t Eat the Daisies” (1960), “Bachelor in Paradise” (1961), and “The Caretakers” (1963).

Paige also appeared on several popular television shows throughout her career, including “All in the Family,” “Archie Bunker’s Place,” “Eight is Enough,” and “Night Court.” Janis received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 9, 1960.

Several fans have taken to social media to share tributes to Janis.

Rest in peace!
