Carmen rose to prominence in the 1970s, finding early success in the decade with his group the Raspberries, who became a noted progressive rock band around 1970. Their most popular song, “Go All The Way,” reached number five on the Billboard charts. That band would go on to break up in 1975.

After losing the only band he had ever seen success with, Carmen went on to have a prolific and tremendously successful solo career afterwards. Carmen had three songs enter the Billboard Top 10 as a solo artist, including “All by Myself,” “Make Me Lose Control and “Hungry Eyes”.

Carmen also contributed to the soundtrack of one of the 1980s most iconic movies, ‘Footloose,’ for which Carmen recorded the song “Almost Paradise.” He wrote the love theme that was performed by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson in the hit film.

All in all, Carmen had 13 songs had a place on the Billboard chart throughout his career, marking a tremendously successful lifetime of dedication to music. For generations, even though he has passed on, his voice will still be heard, and the messages he left in his songs will still be felt.

Rest in peace, legend, Eric Carmen.
