Lisa Murkowski’s top donors – Senator Lisa Murkowski first became a member of the U.S. Senate in 2002 when her father, Frank Murkowski, appointed her to the position without receiving a single vote from a single Alaskan. Frank Murkowski was Governor of Alaska at the time.
Lisa Murkowski was sworn into her position in the U.S. Senate on January 7th, 2003. The Alaskan Senator was then re-elected in 2004, 2010, 2016, and eventually 2022.
From 2004 to 2010 Murkowski shed an astounding 9% of support from Alaskan voters, falling from achieving 48% of the vote in the former election to just over 39% in the latter. In 2016, enjoying a boost from the Presidential election, Murkowski achieved 44% of the vote in the general election.
There was just one problem, the longtime Alaskan Senator would have to face an uphill battle for Senate in 2022 without the boost of voter participation from the Presidential election. Reading her situation Murkowski and her political allies began backing the implementation of ranked-choice voting in the State of Alaska.
In 2020, Murkowski and her allies successfully implemented ranked-choice voting in Alaska’s federal elections, paving the way for the Senator’s victory in the 2022 Election.
A Slingshot News investigation into Murkowski’s public campaign finance data reveals that donors who contributed most of Murkowski’s total funds in 2022 were fellow members of the Republican Senate.
Lisa Murkowski’s top donors…
Our site discovered that Murkowski simply struggles to receive donations from ordinary Alaskans, and the full picture is shocking, to say the least.
Texas Senator John Cornyn Gave Murkowski Over $422k In 2022 Election Cycle

Longtime Texas Senator John Cornyn contributed over $422,000 to Senator Lisa Murkowski’s campaign committee during the 2022 Election cycle alone. These donations came through Cornyn’s ‘Coryny Victory Committee,’ which raised just over $11 Million during that cycle.
Nearly 5% of all donations received by Senator Cornyn’s political action committee were dispersed directly to Senator Murkowski’s campaign account. See evidence of those donations below,
Lisa Murkowski’s top donors

Lisa Murkowski’s top donors – Slingshot News found no other evidence of committees affiliated with Senator Cornyn donating to Lisa Murkowski in any other election cycle, hinting at a coordinated effort within the Republican Senate to protect Murkoswki in 2022.
President Donald Trump backed Kelly Tshibaka in that 2022 Election, mounting the most serious challenge to Murkowski’s seat in her entire career. Without the ranked-choice voting system implemented in the 2020 Election, it is questionable whether the longtime incumbent Murkowski would still be a member of the U.S. Senate.
Former Utah Senator Mitt Romney Gave Murkowski Over $50k During The 2022 Election Cycle

Former Senator Mitt Romney, who was possibly the most outspoken critic of President Donald Trump in the Republican Senate, donated over $50k from his joint fundraising committee during the 2022 Election.
See evidence of those contributions from the Federal Election Commission’s public campaign finance database below,

‘Team McConnell’ Gave Murkowski Over $59,000 In 2022
The political action committee directly affiliated with longtime Kentucky Senator and former Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell contributed over $59,000 to Lisa Murkowski in the 2022 Election.
McConnell has long been seen as a chief opposition to Trump within Republican circles in the U.S. Senate, though he worked with the President to confirm some three Supreme Court justices, 54 appellate court judges, and 174 district court judges during Trump’s first term.

McConnell utilized his own campaign account to disperse large amounts of his own donors’ money to Lisa Murkowski.
We have categorized these donations differently than general funds donated to Murkowski by the larger Republican campaign finance apparatuses, which we will review later in the article.
‘Reclaiming The Majority’, With Ties To George W. Bush, Gave Murkowski Over $87k During 2022 Election
While there is very little information available as to who controls the political action committee ‘Reclaiming the Majority’, a Slingshot News investigation into the entity, and the lawfirm that controls it, led us back to Texas politics and George W. Bush.
It should be noted that Bush is also a close ally of John Cornyn, who we earlier revealed as Murkowski’s largest financial supporter during the 2022 Election cycle.
‘Reclaiming The Majority’ is treasured by a woman called Lisa Lisker, who works at the political accounting firm Huckaby, Davis, Lisker. That law firm is credited with working on behalf of the Bush-Cheney ’04 campaign.

Huckaby, Davis, and Lisker also received $333,716 in business from the Republican National Convention during George W. Bush’s first campaign in the 2000 Presidential election.
The group also donated over $87k to Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski during the 2022 Election. See evidence of those contributions from the Federal Election Commission’s public campaign finance database below,

It’s unquestionable that after an examination of ‘Reclaiming the Majority’ and its financial activity that the committee focuses on members of the traditional Republican establishment in Washington D.C.. The committee also supported Senator Todd Young, and Senator John Hoeven in 2022, both longtime incumbents.

The National Republican Senate Committee transferred over $50k to the Senator, with over $46k of that total being given in June of 2022. ‘Take Back The Senate’ donated over $60k to Murkowski during her 2022 re-election bid. See evidence of these contributions below,

Every other top-five contributor to Senator Lisa Murkowski’s 2022 U.S. Senate campaign in Alaska was a fellow Republican Senator, all of whom took money given to them by their own donors and handed it to Murkowski.
What does this tell us about Murkowski’s popularity in Alaska?
