NFL Cornerback Vontae Davis

Vontae Davis, who played cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, and Buffalo Bills during his 10 year NFL career, has reportedly tragically died today at the age of just 35.

Davis had been living in Southwest Ranches, Florida, where authorities reportedly found the NFL star dead in his home today. Davis, a former first round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2009, was consistently a top cornerback in the league for many years of his career.

He was a staple of the Colts defense during the Andrew Luck era, in which the Colts saw tremendous regular season, and some postseason success. The home in which Davis was discovered dead is reportedly owned by his grandmother, Adaline Davis.

This death comes as a complete shock to the NFL world, as Davis was just 35 years old. We have not received confirmation on any cause of death to this point. Davis was named to the NFL Pro Bowl in both 2014 and 2015 while he was a member of the Indianapolis Colts.

He wore number 21 while he was a member of the Colts. Colts owner Jim Irsay said the following on Twitter about Davis’ death,

“Extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Vontae Davis. A great guy, teammate, player. My prayers to Vontae’s family.”

Davis’ brother was legendary San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, who was amongst the best pass-catchers in the league for several years with the 49ers. Vernon Davis played on many teams, including the Washington Commanders, before he passed away.

Vontae Davis, as just 35 years old, has reportedly passed away. We pray that he will rest in peace. To lose such a great NFL player at such a young age is a true tragedy. After his retirement, Davis had become CEO of his own wellness spa in Florida. Rest in peace, Vontae Davis, gone but never forgotten.
