Noted Actor, 39, Dies In Tragic Boating Accident

Obumneme Odonwodo, commonly known as Junior Pope, who was an actor famous for his Nollywood films, has reportedly tragically passed away in a tragic boating accident. The actor was just 39 years old.

Pope was reportedly on a boat with three other individuals returning from a movie shoot that they had conducted on the Anam River in Anambra State. None of the passengers survived when the boat overturned.

The actor tragically shared a video on Instagram of himself traveling along a river yesterday without a life jacket. He captioned the post, “The risk we take to entertain you; crossing River 9ja yesterday with no life jacket,”

His body was recovered from the scene of the boat’s crash by local authorities. The boat crash took place earlier today. The tragic passing of the famed actor has caused tremendous heartache across the world.

The fact that he posted the prior Instagram video just days before his passing acknowledging that he was not wearing a life jacket is chilling to say the least.

Nigeria is mourning the loss of actor Obumneme Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, who died in a boat accident at the age of 39 on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

The incident reportedly occurred while he was returning from a movie shoot along the Anam River in Anambra State. Junior Pope, along with three others, did not survive when their boat overturned.

Just a day before the accident, Pope shared a video on Instagram showing him on a boat, crossing a river without a life jacket. He captioned the post, “The risk we take to entertain you; crossing River 9ja yesterday with no life jacket,” highlighting the dangers actors sometimes face in their line of work.
