A political prosecution filed at the last possible moment of the Biden administration threatens to put a patriotic Vietnamese immigrant and outspoken Trump supporter behind bars on fabricated charges.
David Duong came from Vietnam to the land of the free in the 1970s imbued with the entrepreneurial spirit. He founded California Waste Solutions and served as its CEO, growing it from a small recycling company to a behemoth serving over 1.4 million customers throughout Northern California.
Duong was widely respected as a community leader where he provided jobs for hundreds of people, stepped up to donate millions during the COVID pandemic, created better diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Vietnam, and was the living embodiment of the American Dream.
But that all changed after he became an outspoken supporter of Donald J. Trump.
Prior to the arrival of Trump to the political scene, Duong was a long-time Democrat. Former President Barack Obama even appointed Duong to a privileged post in the Vietnam Education Foundation. The Obama White House touted Duong’s impressive credentials while announcing his appointment in 2010, which included serving as commissioner on the Oakland Waste Reduction and Recycling Commission and Oakland International Trade Commission as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Vietnamese American Business Association.
Duong could have continued supporting the Democrat Party even after Trump came down the golden escalator to save America, in order to protect his stature and his bottom line.
Refusing To Bow To Critics, Duong Stands For Trump
Instead, Duong heeded the patriotic call, becoming a vocal supporter of President Trump at the earliest stages in 2016. As a result, he is facing the lawfare consequences that many Trump supporters have endured, paying a heavy price from Democrats looking to punish so-called traitors among their ranks to enforce their leftist hierarchy of blind conformity. The Biden regime made it clear that they wanted to make an example of Duong by prosecuting him on the last day of their administration.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office of San Francisco announced their charges against David Duong, along with his son Andy Duong and Andre Jones, on Friday, Jan. 17 – the final business day that the Biden administration was in charge. They wanted to make sure the criminal prosecution was initiated against Duong before the Trump administration had a chance to review and then decide not to pursue the case due to its obvious frivolity. Duong was in Washington D.C., celebrating inauguration weekend as the charges against him were announced, never losing his faith in the country he loves despite the Biden attacks on his freedom, reputation and character.
Duong was indicted after being implicated in a pay-to-play scheme because of testimony from a man accused of fraud. Mario Juarez, a businessman from Fruitvale, was being pursued for criminal fraud charges. After Juarez provided dubious testimony against Duong, the District Attorney’s office conveniently moved to have the case dismissed.
It is not uncommon for corrupt law enforcement officials to find some lowlife to lean on, have them become a stoolie or otherwise cook up a story, in order to destroy their real target, even if it means fabricating a crime or letting a real criminal walk. This case seems to fit that M.O. to a tee. This case has been engineered to send a message.
Duong was demonized by federal prosecutors because he embarked on a trade mission to Vietnam, hoping to establish a greater rapport between the City of Oakland and Ho Chi Minh City as part of his life-long mission to promote goodwill between the nations.
Biden Administration Targets Duong Over Ties To Patriotic Support Of Trump
This laudable effort was ultimately used as the basis for the indictment with prosecutors alleging without evidence that there was nefarious intent behind Duong’s trip. This case creates a chilling effect against patriotic American immigrants, potentially criminalizing attempts for immigrants to help their former countrymen through the spread of free enterprise and capitalism. Duong’s railroading will only serve to create more enmity against America by preventing voluntary cooperation between the nations away from government intervention. The federal swamp certainly goes very deep, and the Trump administration has much to consider as they tackle the immense task of cleaning it up.
They must not lose sight of the individuals whose lives have been destroyed because of federal overreach and politically-biased lawfare. Trump has already pardoned many, such as the Jan. 6 patriots who were ensnared in a federal trap by informants and provocateurs a’plenty, but he should consider pardoning many more. Duong is one man who deserves a pardon – a pillar of his community, an example of a hard-working immigrant who loves his nation and does what is best for his people. Democrats want to see assimilated immigrants like Duong behind bars while illegal thugs, cretins and gangbangers are lionized.
