Atlanta Falcons A ‘Major Contender’ To Land QB Kirk Cousins In Free Agency
The Atlanta Falcons have been named a ‘major contender’ to land quarterback Kirk Cousins in free agency. Initially drafted by the Washington Redskins, now the Washington Commanders, in 2012, Cousins has spent the last six seasons playing for the Minnesota Vikings.
Cousins replaced Case Keenum, who had a late career resurgence in Minnesota before he was ultimately replaced by Cousins. Since he landed in Minnesota, Cousins has been amongst the most consisted quarterbacks in the entire National Football League.
His completion percentage remained above 65% for his entire career with the Vikings, and even surpassed 70% in his first season with the team. His interception to touchdown ratio has remained strongly above 2:1, and he has winning percentage of 57% with the team.
Whoever lands the 35-year-old quarterback in free agency will be landing a player of substance, and consistency who has played his position at an extremely high level for his entire playing career.
To think that Cousins was considered an afterthought of college football star Robert Griffin III during the 2012 draft is quite unbelievable, considering Griffin has not played since 2020, and did not start for the majority of his career.
Falcons Favored To Land Kirk Cousins
Though it is being reported that Cousins is favored to land in Atlanta during free agency, it is also being reported that the Vikings are desperately trying to resign Cousins. He would be considered the top free agent if he sees the market.
