Chicago natives Laticha Bracero and her daughter, Alyssa Cordova were departing a Drake concert held in St. Louis last night when another driver, 22-year-old Monte Henderson, sped through an intersection and hit the front of their vehicle.
Both Bracero and Cordova were killed in the crash that occurred at North 18th and Olive streets. Henderson, who survived the crash, was taken into custody and charged with involuntary manslaughter & two counts of armed criminal action.
Video of the shocking crash was captured by an overhead camera at the intersection. Given the graphic nature of the footage, we will not include it, but it can be viewed here. The brief video shows Henderson’s vehicle flying through the intersection at an extremely high speed, and smashing the front-end clean off of the vehicle of Bracero and Cordova.
A cousin said about the mother and daughter pair,
“They’re inseparable. They are. They’re inseparable. And I feel like if one of them would have survived, they would have never been able to survive this without the other.”

Controversy has grown over this case, as the driver who initiated this crash, Monte Henderson, posted 10% of his $200,000 bond, and by order of a Judge, has been released from police custody.
5 On Your Side spoke to a family member of Bracero and Cordova, that said,
My family is not being allowed time to grieve and we haven’t even figured out how to bring Lety and Alyssa home yet and we are at a loss as to how a man can take 2 lives and be out on bond 2 days later able to sit at home with his family. We have MANY questions and demand answers. The police department has failed to reach out to us and the states attorneys office has provided inaccurate information. This man should NOT have been able to go home after ONLY 2 days and he took 2 lives. We don’t know if he had a driver’s license, we don’t know if he was under the influence, we don’t know his criminal history, we don’t know if he’s a flight risk, we don’t know if he had vehicle insurance. My family demands accountability from everyone everywhere. The driver, the police department, the states attorneys office, the venue, traffic control etc.
