Three Primetime NBC Shows Cancelled In 2024
Four television programs at the very front of NBC’s vaunted primetime television lineup are ending after this Spring, and won’t be returning for another season in the Fall, or next year in 2025.
For fans of these programs, the end is here, but it’s ok, because NBC has also announced that they are extending several other beloved shows. These shows include the most popular program “The Voice “as well as the growing show “Lopez vs. Lopez.”
NBC has announced that the following shows will be returning for another season in the Fall of 2024, or the Spring of 2025. Those programs are,

If you are a fan of these programs listed above, you’re in luck. Your show will be returning to the NBC airwaves in short order. However if you are a fan of the following programs, you aren’t so lucky.
Cancelled: Extended Family
They tried, but it just didn’t work. Extended Family was a sitcom starring Jon Cryer and Abigail Spencer, who after a divorce continue to raise their kids at the family home while taking turns on who gets to stay with them.
The show was seen as an important cultural piece specifically as it pertains to divorce, which becomes more prevalent each year in the United States.
Millions of Americans are either products of divorced parents, or divorced themselves. Extended Family appealed to these Americans… but for just one season.
Its runtime was just 13 episodes.
Cancelled: Quantum Leap
Quantum Leap followed a new team that must restart the project hoping to understand the mysteries behind the machine and its creator after Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into a “Quantum Leap accelerator” and vanished.
The show began running in 2022, and had become quite a hit with members of the science fiction community.
NBC announced in May that it would not be renewing the hit series, which was based on a television series which was successful in the 1990s by the same name.
Quantum Leap did in fact bring something different to the NBC lineup.
Cancelled: Transplant
Transplant is the longest-tenured television program that will be coming to an end on NBC this year, as the show began running all the way back in 2020.
The series follows Dr. Bashir Hamed, a charismatic Syrian doctor with battle-tested skills in emergency medicine, who flees his war-torn homeland to forge a new life in Canada.
The final episode of this series ended on January 19th, 2024.
