U.S. Senate Candidate Lorie Friend Challenges Larry Hogan To Address Alarming Criminal Connections

Tonight, Slingshot News had the honor of interviewing U.S. Senate candidate in Maryland Lorie Friend, who is currently challenging Larry Hogan for the Republican nomination in the race.

This interview comes after Slingshot News published a bombshell report on former Governor Hogan just yesterday, a video that has received much attention across the State of Maryland. Within the video, founder Troy Smith highlights Hogan’s connection to several individuals who have been charged with the distribution of child pornography, including former Hogan deputy State Secretary Luis Borunda and Hogan deputy legislative assistant Mathew Palmer.

The video also cover Kevin Lee Hall, a former Hogan aide and family friend who, while living with Larry Hogan in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, during Hogan’s 1992 Congressional campaign, was arrested for kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old boy at gunpoint.

Smith also touches on Roy McGrath, Hogan’s former chief of staff who committed suicide after exchanging gunfire with federal authorities in Knoxville, Tennessee in April of 2023, and Judge Johnathan Newell, who committed suicide after federal authorities moved to take him into custody in September of 2021.

During her interview with Slingshot News tonight, U.S. Senate candidate Lorie Friend called on former Governor Larry Hogan to answer for these associations with these individuals, and to explain why he appointed them to positions of power within the State of Maryland.

I have to say, I’m probably like a lot of Marylanders, I was shocked. I think I had heard something when he was first exiting office, but not very much. After watching what you had exposed, it’s very, very troubling, and I actually think Larry Hogan should come out and speak to this. Of these accusations, because people, you know, Marylanders, we want to know the truth about what’s going on.

If you, Larry Hogan, think that this is inaccurate, then you need to speak up, because, this is not what I would want, or who I would want representing me in the United States Senate.

Friend, a registered nurse who was among the first to enter the race for Senate, finished second place in the last GOP Senate Primary in 2022. She has never held political office, and within her interview, characterized herself as an outsider vying to represent that interests of the people of her home State of Maryland.

Friend declared that she would be an advocate for the people of Maryland. She also voiced her opinion on aid to Ukraine, in which the Senate candidate claimed that she would support minimal aid, but wanted a bigger focus on keeping taxpayer money on American shores.

The Senate candidate also voiced her support for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 Election.
