White House Deflects Blame For Southern Border Situation
During the White House press briefing today, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about President Biden’s handling of the crisis at the southern border. In response, she stated, “The president has taken so many actions over the last three years.”
Karine states that the first thing the Biden Administration accomplished when it took office was to introduce its “comprehensive immigration proposal.” Jean-Pierre attempted to shift the blame for a lack of improvement at the United States southern border to Republicans, stating, “Republicans got in the way at every turn.”
In just the first one hundred days of the Biden Administration, President Biden issued ninety-four executive actions dismantling border security, undoing all the work the previous administration had accomplished.

The Biden Administration maintains that the Trump Administration’s handling of the southern border included inhumane tactics, which they sought to improve. Since the Biden Administration began in 2020, The Hill estimates that over ten million illegal immigrants have entered the United States since the start of 2020.
The Biden Administration continues to state that Biden finished negotiating for border security three years ago. Since Republicans rejected Biden’s ineffective border plan, the Biden Administration has refused to further engage innegotiations regarding the border to halt the continuous influx of people into the country.
While having all the power needed to close the border and start resolving the challenges that the American people have faced over the past three years, the Biden Administration persists in blaming Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress.
Heading into the 2024 election, border security will surely be one of the most prevalent single issues on the ballot, if not the most prevalent. While like many other issues, the candidates seem to hold polar opposite beleifs on the best path forward.
