Biden Says He Will Debate Trump If He ‘Behaves’

President Joe Biden was asked today next to Air Force One whether or not he would debate former President Trump, who eliminated former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley from the Republican Primary on Tuesday after sweeping victories in every state except Vermont, prior to the general election.

The President was asked, “Will you commit to a debate with former President Trump?”

Biden responded, saying, “That depends on his behavior.” Biden made this remark coming off of his State of the Union address last night, where an estimated 24 million Americans tuned in to watch the remarks.

Former President Trump has called on Biden to debate him prior to the 2024 General Election. Trump said in a post to Truth Social,

“It is important for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate issues that are so vital to American, and the American people,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social media platform. “Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE!”

Biden’s campaign spokesman Michael Taylor said the following about Trump’s comments,

“I know Donald Trump’s thirsty for attention and struggling to expand his appeal beyond the MAGA base — and that’s a conversation we’ll have at the appropriate time in this cycle,” Tyler said. “But if he’s so desperate to see President Biden in prime time, he doesn’t have to wait! He can join the tens of millions of Americans who will tune in to watch the State of the Union tomorrow night. He might even learn a thing or two about bringing people together and actually delivering for the American people.”

It is still unknown whether a debate between Trump and Biden will take place. The pair had two debates in the 2020 Election. A third was attempted, but the former President declined the invite after learning that it would be held virtually.
