Former President Donald Trump took time today to attend the wake of fallen New York Police Department officer Jonathan Diller. Diller was tragically killed during a routine traffic stop on Monday in Far Rockaway, Queens.

Diller is survived by his loving wife Stephanie, and a one-year-old son.

Trump could be seen emerging from his motorcade and heading into Massapequa funeral home earlier this morning. See a video of Trump entering the wake for fallen NYPD officer Jonathan Diller below,

After attending the wake, Trump briefly spoke to media outside of the building. Trump said,

“It’s such a horrible thing, and it’s happening all-too-often, and we’re just not gonna let it happen. We just can’t. 21 times arrested, and the person in the car with him was arrested many times and they don’t learn because they don’t respect, they’re not given the respect, the police are the greatest people we have, there’s nothing and there’s nobody like ’em. This should never happen. I just visited with a very beautiful wife that does not have her husband. Stephanie was just incredible, their child brand new, beautiful baby sitting there innocent as could be. Doesn’t know how his life has been changed.”

The person Trump is referring to in this statement is Guy Rivera, a 34-year-old man who has been charged with Diller’s murder. Rivera has officially been charged with murder of a police officer, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Rivera was allegedly the passenger in a parked vehicle with 41-year-old Lindy Jones behind the wheel when Officer Diller approached the vehicle. Diller was shot in his stomach.
